MEDIA RELEASE - March 20 2024

Geeveston Art Show - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Geeveston, Tasmania - Following the success of our previous eight art shows, the 2024 Geeveston Art Show is delighted to return to the Geeveston Town Hall to showcase the very best of artisans from Tasmania’s pristine Huon Valley.Between Saturday the 13th April 2024 and Saturday the 27thApril 2024, we welcome the public to come to Geeveston and experience beautiful artworks in a range of mediums – from acrylics to alpaca, sculpture to sewing, and weaving to woodwork.Last year’s event attracted over 3000 people to the Upstairs Gallery of the Geeveston Town Hall over our two-week exhibition period. We had 143 pieces of art on show from 71 local artists. This year’s event is already shaping up to be exceptional, with live demonstrations from local artisans almost daily, including the opportunity for members of the public to engage in the free Artist Development Programme, which allows them to explore various mediums under the guidance of our Huon Valley Artist instructors. The President of the Geeveston Progress Association, Dr Gerry Waneck, was highly enthusiastic about the show and its impact on the community.“We’re so excited to deliver a show that continually raises the bar for new and established artists alike. We’re really lucky to have local businesses that support us as well.” he said.“I’m delighted that our new artists have a place to exhibit among professionals. It creates a great environment that allows them to flourish and evolve out of their comfort zone, producing beautiful pieces for our community to enjoy”.Doors open to the public at 10am on Saturday the 13th April, and entry is free of charge with no age restrictions. There is wheelchair access to the Gallery and the Committee encourage anyone with access or sensory challenges to get in touch so they can assist.“We’re so excited to be bringing this event to the Huon Valley again – one we consider to be one of the jewels in the crown of the Huon’s Arts Calendar.” Dr Waneck said.
