Hobart Arts

Hobart’s creative life stretches from Salamanca Place studios and performance venues to community halls, rehearsal rooms, ceramics workshops and purpose-built arts centres across the city and eastern shore. You can sing in a four-part choir, explore life drawing, join an adult dance class, make work in clay, develop a performance idea or see visual theatre take shape.

There are also welcoming ways to support local practice: attend contemporary-art talks, hear a professional orchestra, join a community choir, take part in a workshop or connect with organisations that mentor artists and writers. The following selection brings together creative places, practitioners, companies and groups across greater Hobart.

🎶 Music & Singing

Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra

Tasmania’s professional orchestra presents concert series in Hobart and pairs performance with education and engagement. Its schools program includes concerts, classroom workshops, open rehearsals, teacher professional learning and curriculum resources.
